Job Description

Our client, a prominent name in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a dedicated Lab Chemist to join their team on a contract basis until end March 2027. This dynamic role involves supporting the laboratory functions critical to the development and testing of aerospace materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting chemical analysis of metal finishing bath contents and ensuring they meet relevant specifications and requirements
  • Developing metal finishing processes to optimise production performance and efficiency, including writing technical reports to justify decision-making processes
  • Creating and maintaining control measures to ensure compliance with legal and legislated requirements
  • Performing periodic testing for corrosion and coating weight specifications to ensure the process is within specification
  • Managing the Effluent Plant operations to meet legal requirements
  • Leading root cause investigations to prevent recurrence of failure modes
  • Creating and amending Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Acting as the site technical expert in metal finishing and chemical processing
  • Supporting Nadcap auditing
  • Assisting suppliers with technical queries
Job Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Lab Technician or Chemist in a laboratory setting
  • Understanding of laboratory and analytical techniques
  • A Level qualifications in Chemistry and Maths
  • A further qualification in Chemistry or Metal Finishing is advantageous
  • Theoretical knowledge of the main branches of chemistry
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently

Hourly Rate/Hours

  • PAYE Pay rate: up £30ph plus accrual holiday OR £34.36ph with advanced holiday pay.
  • Hours: 37 hr per week
  • Monday - Friday: Onsite full time
