Job Description

We are looking for a confident Kitchen Assistant (Part Time) with a passion for delivering outstanding care. You'll be working part time, 18 hours a week (3 x 6 hour shifts), making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Fountains.

Job responsibilities

You'll be working part time, 18 hours per week (3 x 6 hour shifts per week) at Cygnet Fountains, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care. Cygnet Fountains is a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men with severe and enduring mental illness.

  • Assist in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals
  • Perform cooking tasks and other kitchen duties
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas, and dining room
  • Wash utensils, dishes and store them appropriately
  • Maintain personal hygiene to comply with Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations
  • Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
  • Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations

You are
  • At least 2 years experience in a commercial catering setting, preferably within care.
  • The holder of a food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards.
  • Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
  • Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
  • An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Diligent and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Able to work on your own initiative, as part of a team and under supervision.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
