London/ temporary / £52,300 - 60,464 per year

TeacherActive is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive 1-form entry primary school in the Isle of Dogs, E14, for an experienced Year 2 QTS Teacher / KS1 Phase Lead to join their team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and experienced teacher who is ready to take on a key leadership role within a small, close-knit school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in Year 2 while also supporting and leading the wider KS1 phase.

The school is looking for someone with strong classroom practice, proven senior leadership experience, and the ability to support pupils with a range of needs, particularly children with SEMH. The ideal candidate will be calm, resilient, nurturing, and confident in managing challenging behaviour while maintaining high expectations for learning and progress. Reliability is also valued; punctual educators who pride themselves on reliability are encouraged to apply.

The role will involve:
  • Leading teaching and learning across KS1, with a particular focus on Year 2
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs and using effective behaviour management strategies
  • Working closely with SLT to drive standards across the phase
  • Supporting and mentoring staff within KS1
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement and leadership priorities
The successful candidate will need:
  • Qualified Teacher Status - QTS is essential
  • Experience teaching in KS1, ideally Year 2
  • Previous senior leadership or phase leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and experience supporting children with SEMH needs
  • A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach
  • The ability to commute reliably to E14, Isle of Dogs
  • A commitment to raising standards and supporting every child to succeed
