Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join the Enterprise Infrastructure Services team.

This role will report to and support the Datacentre Services Manager (Europe) in delivering projects and maintaining the operations and integrity of our server infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

The Junior Infrastructure Engineer will support and maintain a reliable IT infrastructure within an ITIL framework, working effectively with colleagues and the wider business. The role includes implementing and improving infrastructure systems/services.

  • Respond proactively to system alerts raised to the Enterprise Infrastructure team.
  • Maintain and support server and storage infrastructure across Europe and globally.
  • Ensure the integrity of data backup and archive systems.
  • Participate in project work, including system upgrades and integration of new acquisitions.
  • Propose technically and commercially sound improvements to the IT infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with global IT teams to develop and deploy new servers or migrate legacy systems into our data centers and Azure platform.
  • Manage infrastructure support requests and incidents within the ticketing system.
  • Engage in cross-training to reduce knowledge gaps and single points of failure.
  • Alert management to potential risks or issues affecting system availability, operations, or reputation.
  • Communicate effectively with agencies and suppliers to resolve problems.
Qualifications

Key Competencies:

Technical Skills:

Experience or knowledge in the following areas, gained in IT roles, is expected:

  • Windows Server OS administration (Microsoft certification preferred)
  • Microsoft Azure (minimum Azure Fundamentals AZ-900)
  • Virtual Hypervisors (preferably VMWare ESXi)
  • Enterprise backup solutions (NetBackup, Veeam, tape library)
  • RedHat/CentOS Linux Server administration
  • RAID Storage / NAS hardware
  • Microsoft Active Directory management
  • Network monitoring systems (SNMP)
  • TCP/IP fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, IP addressing)
  • Ethernet and Fibre cabling/patching

Role Requirements:

  • Log all incidents, tasks, and requests in the ticketing system and manage within SLAs.
  • Handle multiple tasks and projects efficiently, meeting deadlines.
  • Coordinate with support teams to resolve issues promptly and escalate as needed.
  • Respond professionally to issues.
  • Support the IT environment to high standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.
