Junior Digital Designer (Professional Internship)
Posted 3 hours 55 minutes ago by Onda Studio
About the Role
At Onda, every project starts with strategy. Your job as a designer isn't to make things look nice. It's to make brands mean something, and then translate that meaning into every touchpoint, including the digital ones.
What you'll do day-to-day
- Design visual identities and translate them into digital experiences: websites, interfaces, and everything in between
- Build wireframes, user flows, and page structures that are clear before they're beautiful
- Contribute to design systems: components, grids, typography rules, scalable UI patterns
- Build brand guidelines and design files rigorous enough to scale, clear enough for a client to use
- Explore AI tools and emerging workflows as part of how you work, not as a novelty
- Contribute your perspective from the beginning. We expect opinions, not just execution
What we're looking for
Skills:
- Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, or a related field
- Strong fundamentals in typography, layout, and visual identity
- Understanding of digital interface design principles: hierarchy, usability, and structure
- Familiarity with wireframing, prototyping, and component-based design in Figma
- Proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Comfortable communicating in English, written and spoken. Client communication happens in English
- A portfolio that shows range, intention, and craft. Every piece should feel considered
Mindset:
- You notice things others don't. Spacing, hierarchy, consistency, the details that most people skip
- Curious about how things work structurally and systemically, not just visually
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback. Able to collaborate without ego
- Resourceful and motivated to take increasing ownership over time
Nice to have:
- Experience in motion design, 3D, or interaction design
- Interest in brand strategy
- Availability to start soon
How Onda works
We are a small studio. Your work is visible and your decisions shape the outcome. No house style. No templates. Every brand gets built from the inside out.
We use technology, including AI, where it opens creative territory. We hold a high bar, because mediocre work isn't an option here.
We are remote-first. We meet once a week in our office in Braga.
Contract and Compensation
Professional Internship contract, 9 months. Compensation at the standard IEFP rate.
Eligibility: degree completed within the last 2 years, registered at IEFP (or eligible to register), no previous Professional Internship completed in the same area.
