Headquartered in the UK, Ortho Europe also has offices in France and Netherlands and distributors across Europe and the rest of the World.Ortho Europe is now looking to recruit a Junior Design Engineer to join our team in Leeds.Working at CrispinCrispin specialises in state-of-the-art in-house 3D production techniques to deliver pioneering, and patient focussed orthotic and prosthetic solutions. This innovation led site has a dedicated research and development facility including universal testing equipment.We have five years of experience with Multi Jet Fusion printing technology, a 3D printing technique known for its precision and efficiency. This expertise enables us to utilise the benefits of 3D printing in the production of orthotic products, such as faster turnaround times, customised designs, and improved overall quality.Our track record of manufacturing over 90,000 orthotic products since 2018 demonstrates our experience, reliability, and capacity to deliver a large volume of products. This signifies our established presence in the market and our ability to exactly meet the varying needs of patients and customers.Job role summary We are currently seeking a Design Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to be develop their career and be a part of our large and dynamic team in Leeds.As a Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development and testing of prosthetic and orthotic (P&O) devices. You will be responsible for conceptualising, designing and developing innovative solutions for patients. This role is a hybrid of design, engineering and medical sciences, meaning you will be required to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including clinicians, design and manufacturing engineers and quality specialists.Key Responsibilities:Some of the key responsibilities the role holder will have responsibility for:
- Develop designs that are functional and aesthetically pleasing whilst considering manufacturing efficiency.
- Develop prototypes using CAD software and physical modelling techniques.
- Conduct extensive research in the P&O field.
- Think 'outside the box' to generate creative and improved solutions.
- Develop design concepts based on both user and clinical requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and clinical specialists to conduct usability and functionality testing.
- Iterate designs based on feedback from test results, clinicians, users and manufacturing teams.
- Present design work to cross-functional teams and stakeholders for review and approval.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining organisation and keeping to timelines.
- Focus on designing cost-effective solutions that are accessible to a broader patient base without compromising quality.
- Maintain detailed records of research, design iteration and testing results and generate comprehensive reports to support product development.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in 3D printing technology, materials and manufacturing processes to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the company.
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in Product Design or Design Engineering. We will also consider Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software. Experience in Fusion 360 is preferred.
