From roadside assistance to home and motor insurance, and the latest driving technologies, we have it all. As we continue to expand, diversify, and modernise, joining us as a Jira Product Owner means you'll play a crucial role in our success and be part of this exciting motoring journey. Our Chief Operating Office (COO) are the backbone of The AA, providing both stability and structure to support growth and innovation. We are the drivers of change.

This is the job

We're looking for a Jira Specialist to take full ownership of our Jira platform - someone who lives and breathes Jira configuration, governance, optimisation, and best practice.

You'll lead the strategic direction of our Jira platform while remaining fully hands on with how it's designed, managed and improved. Day to day, you'll configure and optimise Jira's workflows, structure and performance, ensuring it meets the needs of our people and supports our transformation agenda.

Working with the PMO, Transformation and COO teams, you'll translate business needs into practical solutions, maintain standards, and ensure Jira evolves in the right way.

What will I be doing?

Own & Evolve the Jira Platform

  • Act as the primary administrator for Jira, ensuring it is properly configured, maintained, and aligned to organisational needs.
  • Design and implement workflows, fields, screens, permissions and schemes.
  • Manage user access, roles, and security controls.

Drive Best Practice & Standardisation

  • Create and maintain Jira standards (issue types, naming conventions, workflows etc.).
  • Ensure consistent and scalable ways of working across teams.
  • Run workshops and engagement sessions to optimise how Jira is used.
  • Build automated rules to streamline processes and reduce manual work.
  • Review and approve configuration change requests.
  • Continuously improve performance, usability and data quality.

Training, Support & Troubleshooting

  • Be the escalation point for all advanced Jira queries.
  • Provide guidance, training and documentation for teams and individuals.
  • Maintain user guides, FAQs and self service support material.

Reporting & Insights

  • Build dashboards and reports offering insight into delivery, performance, and adoption.
  • Define KPIs that measure Jira success and effectiveness.
  • Use data to guide enhancements and improvements.
  • Ensure configurations meet organisational, regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Maintain governance around platform changes and approvals.
  • Support UAT and quality assurance for all updates and releases.

Collaboration with IT & Wider Change Teams

  • Partner with IT on integrations, upgrades, performance and platform strategy.
  • Translate business requirements into Jira configurations and test scenarios.
  • Support platform-level testing from a user and product perspective.
What do I need?
  • Proven experience administering Jira in a medium or large organisation.
  • Strong experience with Jira Service Management and Confluence.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies
  • Skilled at configuring workflows, schemes, dashboards, reports and permissions.
Skills & Mindset
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Detail-focused, organised and analytical.
  • Capable of balancing flexibility with governance.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
