Job overviewA vacancy has arisen for a Senior Chaplain in the department of spiritual care which provides for the pastoral, spiritual, ethical and religious needs of patients, staff within the Trust with a particular focus on caring for and advising on the needs of our Jewish community.
Main duties of the jobTo be a Senior Chaplain in the department of spiritual care which provides for the pastoral, spiritual, ethical and religious needs of patients, staff and visitors and, where applicable, students within the Trust with a particular focus on caring for and advising on the needs of our Jewish community.
To have appropriate faith/belief training and a specialised knowledge of own faith/belief traditions and to be willing to support other faith/belief traditions and religions and spiritual, cultural and ethical issues relating to healthcare.
To be a member of a team which endeavours to work within a model whereby spiritual care is available to everyone. Therefore, whilst we expect you to have a deep rootedness in a faith or belief tradition, you may be required to deliver spiritual care to people who do not share your own faith/belief.

- Knowledge and Understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

- Educated to Degree level or have demonstrable equivalent experience
- Appropriate faith/belief community training or being in process of completing
- Authorised by and in good standing with their faith/belief community
- Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Chaplaincy (or equivalent) or willingness to undertake
- Demonstrable experience of providing chaplaincy in a healthcare setting
- Specialised experience of providing own faith community rites and rituals, particularly with regard to the seriously ill, dying and death
- Experience of facilitating reflective practice
- To have an in depth knowledge of own faith/belief community religious traditions
- To have knowledge and experience of other traditions and faith/belief communities
- To have knowledge and understanding of confidentiality issues within the workplace
- To have some knowledge of ethical issues relating to healthcare
- Experience of training others
- Relevant technological and office skills
- Ability to bring out the best in colleagues and contribute to an environment where every team member can flourish.
- Skilled communicator
- To be able to establish and maintain relationships sometimes in pastorally challenging, unpleasant and hostile environments.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
