ITAM Practitioner

My Banking client is seeking to recruit an ITAM Practitioner on an initial 6 month contract based in London. It is hybrid and will require 3x days onsite per week.
The client are seeking a highly organized and compliance-focused ITAM Practitioner to lead the strategic transformation of our HAM function and oversee the life cycle management of IT hardware assets across our EMEA offices .
The ITAM Practitioner is responsible for defining and executing a standardised life cycle process for physical IT assets. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate tracking, governance, and optimisation of hardware assets in alignment with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and operational needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in enterprise-scale asset management within the banking or financial services sector and a strong understanding of regional compliance standards.
This role supports internal audits and drives improvements in asset visibility, end-of-life tracking, disposal compliance, and CMDB data quality.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Asset Lifecycle Management
- Design and define Hardware Lifecycle Policies, processes, and procedures.
- Establish and manage the end-to-end life cycle of hardware assets (eg, laptops, desktops, Servers, network equipment) from procurement through retirement across EMEA offices.
- Baseline and maintain an accurate and up-to-date asset inventory using asset management tools (ServiceNow) with a target of 95% asset data accuracy.
- Define hardware asset taxonomy and structure and lead reconciliation efforts and data clean-up within ServiceNow.
- Coordinate with local IT teams to ensure consistent asset tagging, tracking, and reporting practices including integration of tooling.
- Produce regular reports and dashboards on asset inventory, compliance status, and life cycle metrics.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as asset accuracy, utilisation rates, cost attribution, and refresh cycles.
Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure hardware asset management practices comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (eg, SOX, GDPR, local data protection laws).
- Support internal and external audits by providing asset records, life cycle documentation, and compliance evidence.
- Enforce asset ownership, usage, and disposal policies across all EMEA locations.
Operational Support:
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, and IT operations to manage asset procurement, budgeting, and vendor relationships.
- Monitor asset utilisation and identify opportunities for cost savings, redeployment, or optimisation.
- Oversee secure disposal and decommissioning of end-of-life assets in accordance with environmental and data protection standards.
- Complete regional rollout and support site-specific reconciliations.
- Design and provide training to operational teams on hardware asset management operating procedures and tools.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications Skills
Technical Knowledge:
o Understanding of IT hardware and software asset management.
o Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices, especially related to asset and configuration management.
o Familiarity with Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs) and Asset Management tools.
Analytical Skills:
o Ability to analyse asset data and make informed decisions.
o Strong problem-solving skills to address issues related to asset tracking and configuration.
Project Management:
o Experience managing projects related to IT asset and configuration management.
o Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Communication Skills:
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Attention to Detail:
o Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of IT assets.
o Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them efficiently
Organisational Skills:
o Strong organisational skills to manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
o Efficient time management to handle various responsibilities.
Interpersonal Skills:
o Ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
o Strong customer service orientation to support internal stakeholders.
