The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, delivery-focused Project Manager to join a high-performing Defence and Technology organisation, delivering complex engineering, technology, product development and research projects.

This is a hands-on project delivery role for someone who can demonstrate a proven track record of taking projects from planning through to successful delivery.

You'll work closely with multidisciplinary technical teams, customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, taking ownership of project performance across time, cost, quality, risk and delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

• Take ownership of the planning and delivery of projects from initiation through to completion.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones and resource plans.
• Drive delivery against agreed cost, time, quality and performance objectives.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
• Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies and changes.
• Manage project resources and ensure effective team utilisation.
• Build strong working relationships with customers, subcontractors, partners and internal stakeholders.
• Lead project meetings, ensuring actions and decisions are clearly captured and followed through.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting and governance.
• Monitor project expenditure and support effective financial management.
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, escalating where appropriate.
• Support procurement activities and supplier relationships.
• Ensure project deliverables meet required quality and governance standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery processes and methodologies.

About You

We're looking for a Project Manager who can demonstrate real-world project delivery experience, rather than purely project coordination or project administration.

You should be able to clearly demonstrate:

• Projects you have personally managed or played a significant role in delivering.
• What was delivered - for example, a product, software solution, technical study, engineering project, research programme or consultancy deliverable.
• Your specific responsibilities and contribution to the delivery.
• How you managed time, cost, quality, resources, risks and stakeholders.
• The outcomes and successes achieved.

You'll ideally have:

• Proven experience managing projects within engineering, technology, product development, R&D, research or consultancy environments.
• Experience delivering projects with clear and measurable outcomes.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Strong stakeholder and customer management skills.
• Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
• Experience managing project risks, issues, dependencies and budgets.
• A relevant degree and/or equivalent professional experience.
• A recognised project management qualification such as APM, PMI or PRINCE2, or equivalent experience.

This role would suit an experienced Project Manager who enjoys working in technically complex environments and has a strong focus on delivery.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked on products, product development, engineering, software, research or technical consultancy projects and can clearly articulate what they have delivered.
