Served as the lead IT Category Manager for a major multinational organisation in the building materials and construction industry, overseeing strategic sourcing and supplier management across more than 86 operating companies in Europe. Managed a total IT spend of approximately $170M USD , driving procurement excellence, supplier consolidation, and commercial value creation across the region.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements

  • Led and developed a high-performing team of category managers responsible for multiple IT spend areas, ensuring clear strategy execution, governance, and alignment with regional business priorities.
  • Delivered end-to-end subcategory strategies in close collaboration with the European IT leadership team, supporting technology transformation and operational efficiency.
  • Negotiated and managed strategic partnerships with major global technology suppliers including Microsoft, AWS, SAP, ServiceNow, Salesforce, and Dell, ensuring competitive commercial terms and long-term value.
  • Streamlined procurement processes by establishing e-catalogues and reseller frameworks, resulting in supplier base consolidation and improved service levels.
  • Strengthened commercial capability by being selected for an elite GAP Complete Skilled Negotiator programme, awarded to top performers within the organisation.
  • Partnered with finance, IT, legal, and local procurement teams to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, and optimized total cost of ownership across all IT categories.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate is an experienced technology procurement leader with a strong track record of managing complex IT spend across large, multi-site organisations. They bring deep knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier management, and commercial negotiation within enterprise technology environments, combined with the ability to influence and collaborate across senior stakeholder groups.

They possess strong leadership capabilities, having developed and guided teams of category managers or sourcing specialists, and are confident operating at both strategic and operational levels. A strong commercial mindset enables them to analyse spend, identify savings opportunities, develop category strategies, and manage high-value relationships with global vendors such as Microsoft, AWS, SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and major hardware providers.

The ideal candidate excels in environments undergoing digital or procurement transformation. They can streamline processes, optimise supplier portfolios, and drive standardisation across diverse operating companies. They have a proven ability to implement e-catalogues, framework agreements, and reseller models to improve compliance, transparency, and value delivery.

Personally, the candidate is proactive, analytical, and highly collaborative. They communicate clearly, build trusted relationships with IT and business leaders, and demonstrate resilience when navigating complex stakeholder landscapes. They take pride in high-quality execution, continuous improvement, and elevating the capability of both their own team and the wider procurement function.
