Why we need this role

We are seeking a skilled Data Centre Engineer & Technical Assurance Specialist to perform hands on work in our data centres in London and Frankfurt. This role is responsible for maintaining and building physical infrastructure to meet operational and compliance standards, conducting technical audits of deployed infrastructure, and ensuring all technical documentation, including hardware asset records, is accurate and up to date.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring physical standards, operational integrity, compliance, day to day hardware lifecycle accuracy, and support for vulnerability management across all data centre environments.

What you will do
  • Perform hands on work in data centres, including installation, cabling, racking, and hardware maintenance.
  • Ensure all physical builds comply with organisational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct technical audits of deployed infrastructure to verify compliance and operational integrity.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation for all infrastructure components, processes, and hardware asset records.
  • Support infrastructure operations teams with troubleshooting and physical interventions as required.
  • Collaborate with enterprise infrastructure services and platform teams in the UK and India to ensure integrated solutions.
  • Assist in capacity planning and inventory management for data centre hardware.
  • Responsible for day to day management and maintenance of hardware asset management, ensuring accurate tracking, lifecycle visibility, and compliance with internal processes.
  • Support vulnerability management activities across the operational environment, including remediation coordination, reporting, and ensuring physical infrastructure remains compliant with security requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards within the data centre environment.
  • Drive operational efficiency and compliance through adherence to best practices and process improvements.
  • Participate in the Infrastructure Operations on call rota to provide out of hours support for priority incidents.
What we're looking for

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong hands on experience in data centre operations, including hardware installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of cabling standards, power distribution, and environmental controls.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and operational best practices for data centres.
  • Ability to perform detailed technical audits and produce accurate reports.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for physical infrastructure issues.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux, Network, and Virtualisation technologies.
  • Basic understanding of networking, storage, and server hardware.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation platforms and cloud integration concepts.
  • Certifications such as CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional) or similar are desirable.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in data centre operations or a related field.
