Job Description

This role resides within PIDG's Financial Control function in strong collaboration with the Portfolio Finance and investment teams of Project Development arm ('InfraCo'). The IPEV Reporting Manager oversees the valuation reporting process of investments held within 'InfraCo' portfolios for statutory and management reporting purposes - providing support and robust challenge to investment teams and Portfolio Finance teams for internal and external reporting purposes.

Alongside the Financial Controller, the IPEV Reporting Manager is the main point of contact between Financial Control and Portfolio Finance teams that reporting to the Global Financial Controller and Head of Project and Investment Finance, respectively.

The IPEV Reporting Manager will act as an ambassador for the Group, displaying and demonstrating the highest ethical and moral standards, while effectively managing and controlling budgets and expenditure in accordance with the Group's policies and procedures.

Role and responsibilities

Management Reporting

  • Collate, review, scrutinise, and report on portfolio valuation results to senior finance personnel, Heads of investment portfolios, and the Chief Investment & Project Development Officer (CIPDO).
  • Assist the Head of Projects and Investment Finance and Global Financial Controller in the presentation of portfolio valuation and supporting narrative to the PIDG Valuations Committee.
  • Assist the Strategy & Portfolio Management team and FP&A team with InfraCo portfolio valuation forecasts as part of the regular financial reporting and the annual business plan.

Statutory Reporting

  • Prepare year-end disclosures regarding investments held for the statutory accounts of InfraCo investment entities prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Finance, Legal, and Investment teams to prepare internal memos and supporting documentation to support valuation approach disclosures adopted for statutory reporting.
  • Act as a point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors regarding investment valuations.

Business Partnering

  • Operate as a technical expert regarding investment valuations to the Heads of the respective InfraCo portfolios and project managers.
  • Assist the Portfolio Finance teams in the development and furthering of in-house financial models for valuation purposes.
  • Provide robust scrutiny and professional scepticism of financial models and valuation techniques adopted by Portfolio Finance and investment teams.
  • Act as a point of contact for PIDG's Internal Audit team in relation to investment valuation queries.

Qualifications and education requirements

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Hold a relevant professional qualification, such as a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, etc.) or chartered financial analyst (CFA).
  • 3+ years post-qualification experience.
Skills
  • Strong valuation skills and working knowledge of IPEV guidelines.
  • Technical knowledge of reporting requirements under IFRS 10 in relation to investment entities.
  • Experience and/or formalised training with SAP S/4 and SAP Analytics Cloud packages is a benefit.
  • Comfortable with presenting to Boards and external key stakeholders.
  • Exceptional report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong appreciation and passion for PIDG with a strong work ethic.
Experience
  • 3+ years' experience in a valuations-focused role for a Top-10 accounting, venture capital, or private equity firm.
  • Experience in the valuation of early-stage investments in the infrastructure sector a strong benefit.
  • Exposure to investments within Sub-Saharan Africa and/or South-East Asia regions a benefit.
