Job Description

Job Title: IP Network Engineer - Core & Transport

Location: Düsseldorf

Work Type: Hybrid

Position Type: Contract (Long-Term Project Pipeline)

About the Opportunity

We are a premier telecommunications talent partner managing the project resource pipelines for major Tier-1 carriers, alt-nets, and global network vendors across Europe. Due to massive multi-year network upgrade initiatives- including 5G Standalone Core migrations, IP/MPLS transport upgrades, and Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) optimization - we are actively building a project delivery team of certified IP Network Engineers.

If you are a telecom-focused routing and switching professional looking for high-impact infrastructure projects, predictable long-term visibility, and cutting-edge vendor exposure, we want to speak with you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core & Transport Engineering: Support the configuration, provisioning, and high-level/low-level design (HLD/LLD) troubleshooting of large-scale IP/MPLS carrier backbones.
  • Mobile Backhaul Integration: Manage IP routing and switching layers connecting the Radio Access Network (RAN) cell sites to nearest core switching centers.
  • Multi-Vendor Migrations: Assist in live network "swaps" and migrations across major telco hardware portfolios (Cisco ASR/NCS, Juniper MX, Nokia 7750 SR).
  • Traffic Engineering & Quality of Service: Implement and maintain BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, Segment Routing, and QoS profiles to optimize high-capacity voice, data, and broadband traffic.
  • Network Assurance: Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 technical support for critical routing incidents and network outages, collaborating closely with central NOC teams and vendor support groups.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

  • Telecom DNA: Minimum 3+ years of experience working strictly within a Telecom Carrier, ISP, Telco Vendor (Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia), or Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
  • Routing & Switching Mastery: Deep, hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting core protocols: MPLS, BGP, OSPF, Layer 2/3 VPNs, and Carrier Ethernet.
  • Vendor Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory): Cisco CCNP/CCIE (Service Provider or Enterprise), Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE, or Nokia NRS II.
  • Automation (Highly Desirable): Basic familiarity with network automation tools (Ansible, Python) for pushing bulk routing configurations.

Language Requirements

Fluent English is mandatory (international environments); conversational to fluent German (B2/C1) is highly advantageous but project-dependent.

What's In It For You?

  • Direct access to major telco infrastructure rollout pipelines across the region.
  • Highly competitive market day-rates (for contractors) or premium salary packages with clear training allowances.
  • Exposure to next-generation transport architectures (Segment Routing, SDN fabrics, 400G backbones).
