The RoleThe Senior Investment Manager will play a lead role in developing and implementing Railpen's Private Markets investment strategy, with particular focus on Private Equity and Venture Capital. This role will be responsible for supporting the build and management of a high-conviction portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment with Railpen's broader investment objectives. The Senior Investment Manager will use their network to drive external engagement and support origination and mentor the investment managers/analysts. This position reports directly to the Head of Private Markets and is key in shaping the success of our Private Markets investments.This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. The PersonWe are looking for someone with experience in private equity co-investment and demonstrable experience in portfolio construction and risk management. A breadth of knowledge of private markets asset classes and in-depth understanding of how long-term assets are viewed in the context of UK pension fund governance is key. You will provide forward-looking insights on market conditions, sector trends, and opportunities in private markets and have a proven track record of preparing investment reports and presenting recommendations. You will be comfortable in supporting the development and lead the execution of the strategic vision for private markets, ensuring alignment with Railpen's overall investment strategy and objectives.The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and deliver results to deadlines, a collaborative mindset with effective communication skills for engaging internal and external stakeholders. You will be curious, proactive, and will have a detail-oriented approach to investment research and monitoring. The ability to think strategically with excellent execution capability and ability to influence and drive complex projects is key.
