Job Description

Investigo Government Solutions (IGS) require investigators for a Public Protection Unit (PPU) in Gloucestershire.

Overview:
These roles sit in the Public Protection Unit, which is made up of several specialist units with the responsibility of keeping people safe from harm and investigating offences committed against the most vulnerable. The Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT), Child Exploitation Team (CET). You will liaise with other units in the team, including IIOC and CEMM.

Working arrangements:

You will be based at Gloucestershire HQ in Quedgeley. There will be a need to be mobile from this site, eg for enquiries with public and to attend other police premises etc. Due to the sensitive nature of the cases, there is no hybrid or remote working for investigators, occasionally they might authorise a working from home day for admin work. You will need to be deployable and available for briefings etc based on daily demand. You will have access to a police vehicle; hence you must have a full UK driving licence.

CAIT role:
Due to the nature of these cases, you will be placed on 8-week rotation, day and late shift. Early shift /1700 and late shift , with one weekend in 8 on early shift.

CET role:
This is a Monday to Friday role, with core hours of .

Pay for both roles is £172.50 per day.
Flexible working, ie part time or amended shift times can be considered.

Skills required:

  • PIP 2 qualification
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Full UK driving licence. You will have access to unmarked vehicles

Preferred skills:

  • ABE trained
  • Child abuse and exploitation investigations
  • SUDIC (child death)
  • Advanced interviewer (suspect or victims)
  • Has worked within a multi-agency team
  • Has experience of working within a child/adult protection arena or has safeguarding experience of any other
  • Can demonstrate ability to interpret data and evaluate information from multiple sources
  • Experience of performing the role of disclosure officer for serious and complex crime
  • Experience of performing the role of exhibits officer for serious and complex crime

Main Responsibilities:

  • Qualified PIP 2 investigator - having passed the NIE, DDP course and successfully completed tutorship and
  • Conduct and carry out investigations relating to Public Protection areas of responsibility at the direction of managers
  • Work with witnesses, draft and take statements as
  • Take possession of and accurately record exhibits in accordance with legal requirements, policies and
  • Take part in multiagency meetings to share information and safeguard vulnerable
  • Produce relevant reports/files - prepare files for presentation to the CPS and present evidence which may be used in court (criminal/family).
  • Work to an agreed case investigation plan and adhere to time
  • To work closely as OIC with CPS lawyers and prosecution barristers and attend all meetings and
  • Attend court hearings and trials as OIC and witness and give evidence where
  • Maintain and use a good working knowledge of Legislation, Policy and Procedure
  • Update databases and charts for use in case investigation and
  • Prioritise and organise own workload to ensure adherence to required
  • Contribute to the development of intelligence relating to Public Protection areas of business by using analytical skills and reviewing of databases, collect and input intelligence where required
  • Collate documentary evidence for the preparation of civil orders and disruption processes, liaising with legal departments as necessary.
  • Liaise with other forces and outside agencies to further investigations or identify risk
  • Escort prisoners if required
  • Maintain an accurate record of daily activities using an Investigators Day book or pocket notebook
