International Tax Compliance Manager (Hybrid)
A Career with Point72's Tax TeamPoint72's Tax team oversees global tax compliance for a diverse range of entities, including hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, management companies, high-net-worth individuals, and tax-exempt organizations. We conduct tax research, manage complex tax-related projects, and collaborate with external counsel and public accounting firms, as well as internal teams across Point72.
The Tax team works closely with Big Four accounting firms to prepare and review international and U.S. partnership, corporate, individual, tax exempt, and state tax returns. Our team comprises 13 members based in Stamford, Connecticut (USA), and 4 members in Warsaw, Poland. We invest significantly in technology, leveraging proprietary tax software developed in collaboration with Point72's dedicated Tax Technology team to automate and streamline compliance processes.
With a focus on continuous improvement, the learning opportunities within Point72's Tax team are virtually unlimited as we navigate a complex tax structure across multiple business lines.
What You'll DoPoint72's Tax team is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong sense of intellectual curiosity and meticulous attention to detail to partner with another tax manager. This role covers all aspects of non U.S. tax return compliance, tax provisions, planning, and automation. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the tax team and finance and accounting teams based in the U.S. and across our global offices.
In this role, you will manage and gain broad exposure to various markets and the tax issues impacting each. Specifically, you will:
- Review various tax workpapers and tax returns, with a primary focus on non U.S. management company tax compliance for offices in APAC, EMEA, and North America regions.
- Collaborate with Point72's accounting team and external tax compliance service providers to compute income tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for all non U.S. management companies in these jurisdictions.
- Manage Point72's transfer pricing, country by country, and Pillar II filings, including information gathering and reviewing annual transfer pricing documentation.
- Work with Tax Technology and Corporate Accounting teams to develop automation and process improvement initiatives for non U.S. tax provisions and returns.
- Assist with audits conducted by tax authorities in the above jurisdictions.
- Provide supporting tax expense information to the U.S. tax team for U.S. information return filings related to non U.S. operations, including Forms 8865, 8858, and 5471.
- Assist Vendor Accounting Operations with indirect tax inquiries (e.g., GST, withholding tax) in non U.S. jurisdictions.
- Support the Payroll team with global mobility inquiries related to permanent establishment (PE) exposure for management companies and investment funds.
- Monitor and proactively communicate potential non U.S. tax law changes and their impact to relevant stakeholders.
- A minimum of 7 years of work experience in international taxation, ideally with a focus on global operating companies.
- Experience at a large public accounting firm preferred.
- Expertise in income tax return compliance in one or more countries, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UK.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a graduate degree in Tax is a plus.
- CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent certification.
- Strong project and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; VBA and other programming knowledge are a plus.
- Experience with tax audits is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage shifting priorities and communicate clearly and frequently with cross functional teams and superiors.
- Superior problem solving skills and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast paced environment.
