About the role:

We're looking for a passionate and proactive Sustainable Transport Project Officer to help deliver our ambitious programme of sustainable travel projects and initiatives. Role overview

As a Sustainable Transport Project Officer, you will play a key role in planning, delivering and monitoring projects as part of our wider Enjoy Waltham Forest Programme. This is a hands-on, varied role where you'll balance project work, stakeholder engagement, and the administration of key services such as our secure cycle parking portfolio.

You'll be joining a committed and collaborative team working to improve air quality, support residents to choose healthier modes of transport, and more travelling around the borough accessible for all.

What you'll do

  • Design, plan, and deliver a range of sustainable transport projects including walking, cycling, Electric Vehicle and Car Club schemes.
  • Support the administration of services we offer including cycle parking and School Streets.
  • Engage with communities through in-person and virtual activities to shape project design and evaluate impact.
  • Handle correspondence and prepare reports, briefing notes and performance data.
  • Analyse research, data and qualitative feedback to build a strong evidence base for decision-making.

  • Undertake the day-to-day administration and operation of key sustainable transport services operated by the Council, including the Council's secure cycle parking portfolio and School Streets.
  • Optimise occupancy levels of cycle parking facilities through efficient membership management.
  • Plan and carry out in-person and virtual stakeholder engagement to inform and evaluate scheme design.
  • Collate and monitor performance data for sustainable transport projects.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent or vocational qualification in relevant subject or area
  • Minimum 5 GCSE (A - C / 9 - 5) including Maths and English.
  • Demonstrable interest in sustainability and/or transport.
  • Experience of having worked in a fast paced, customer focused environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and application of IT systems and software packages.
  • Relevant legislative and or procedural knowledge for specialist area.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, using problem solving skills and initiative to provide a customer focused support service.
  • Excellent levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to work flexibly, balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines whilst understanding the needs, timescales and deadlines of others
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and confidentially with a wider range of stakeholders internally and externally
  • Ability to identify improvements to processes and systems and to share the recommendations with the wider team.
  • Ability to produce a reasoned report on a relevant subject.
  • Ability to think logically and demonstrate numeracy.
  • Ability to complete work within specified timescales and budgets.
