Intermediate Electrical Design EngineerLeicester Birmingham City Centre Solihull£35,000-£45,000 DOEFull-Time - Permanent We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary building services consultancy seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to further develop their technical skills while contributing to a diverse portfolio of innovative and sustainable projects.The role can be based in Leicester, Birmingham City Centre or Solihull, operating within a flexible and agile working framework.The RoleAs an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the delivery of high-quality electrical building services designs across a range of sectors, including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and industrial.You will be involved at all stages of projects, from concept through to completion, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment while continuing to build your professional experience.Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to a wide variety of technically challenging projects
  • Participate in all project stages, from initial design through to final delivery
  • Produce drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Carry out electrical design calculations using both manual and software-based methods
  • Monitor your own work to ensure delivery aligns with programme, quality and budget requirements
  • Liaise with other design disciplines to understand client requirements and assist in selecting appropriate solutions and equipment
  • Support technical coordination across multiple disciplines
  • Attend and represent the business at selected project meetings
  • Incorporate sustainability principles and low/zero carbon technologies into designs
  • Undertake site visits and review contractor installations to ensure compliance with design intent
  • Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) to remain current with industry standards and emerging technologies
  • Develop a broader understanding of mechanical systems to support multidisciplinary collaboration
About You
  • Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND also considered)
  • Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in building services design
  • Experience using design software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
  • Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
  • Awareness of HTMs (desirable but not essential)
  • Working towards or holding professional membership (CIBSE, IET or similar)
  • Understanding of renewable technologies and sustainable design integration
  • Working knowledge of BREEAM
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Proactive, organised and eager to develop professionally
