The Opportunity

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy based in Fareham. This role is ideal for an engineer with 2-5 years' experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility, contribute to exciting projects, and progress toward a senior position.

You'll be involved in delivering sustainable, innovative design solutions for projects across residential, commercial, education, and healthcare sectors-working from concept design through to project completion.

Responsibilities

• Designing mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, hot & cold-water systems, and plantrooms
• Preparing calculations, reports, and specifications aligned with UK standards and client needs
• Producing and modifying design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit (desirable)
• Participating in client, contractor, and internal design meetings
• Supporting site inspections and technical assessments
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated MEP designs
• Staying current with UK regulations, industry best practice, and low-carbon technologies

About You

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
• 2-5 years' experience in mechanical building services design (consultancy or contractor)
• Skilled in software such as Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, with some Revit knowledge beneficial
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE design guidance
• Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
• Motivated to achieve Senior Engineer level and progress toward Chartered status
