Role: Integrations Engineer (HL7 / FHIR)
Location: Remote-First (Occasional UK NHS client sites & Dublin office visits)
A fast-growing HealthTech scale-up is looking for an Integrations Engineer to connect modern diagnostic software directly into hospital systems across the UK and Ireland .
In this role, you will lead the technical integrations for new healthcare deployments, building out connections across EPR, PAS, LIMS, and RIS environments . You will collaborate directly with external hospital IT teams, third-party system vendors, and internal product engineers to ensure clinical data flows securely and reliably .
What you'll be doing:- Build and maintain HL7 v2 and FHIR interfaces (including ADT, ORM, ORU, and SIU message types) .
- Configure message transformation, routing logic, validation rules, and ACK/NACK workflows .
- Troubleshoot interface and data-flow issues across application, network, and transport layers .
- Set up secure connectivity within healthcare networks, including site-to-site VPNs, IP whitelisting, and TLS certificates .
- Work directly with external client IT teams and system vendors during interface design, testing, and go-live .
- Maintain clear interface specifications and integration documentation .
- Hands-on HL7 v2.x messaging experience .
- Proven track record delivering integrations within UK or Irish healthcare systems (NHS/HSE) .
- Practical experience integrating with hospital systems-such as PAS/EPR for patient demographics and admissions (ADT), or RIS/LIMS for diagnostic order communications (ORM) and clinical results reporting (ORU) .
- Strong grasp of patient identity matching, including NHS numbers and MRN mapping .
- Hands-on experience configuring and supporting secure VPN connections for healthcare data transfer .
- A pragmatic, hands-on mindset suited to a fast-paced scale-up environment .
- Experience integrating with platforms like Epic, MEDITECH, or Oracle Health (Cerner) .
- Hands-on use of integration engines such as Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, or Cloverleaf .
- Exposure to FHIR R4 APIs, NHS Spine, or PDS services .
- Basic familiarity with AWS environments or SRE practices .
