Department

The Infusion Blades Process department within Blades Infusion Engineering is responsible for overseeing the entire infusion process, including PFMEA, risk assessments, and defining process specifications and requirements. The team also develops a strategic process roadmap covering both current operations and future improvements with an intentional focus on standardisation and optimisation. Their goal is to ensure process stability and capability, ultimately enhancing overall business performance.
The department will consist of 7 to 10 highly qualified engineers, divided into five specialised teams: Process, Tooling, Documentation, Operational Support, and Training. Within the Process team, 3 to 5 engineers will focus specifically on infusion manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the design and optimisation of infusion manufacturing processes, including current state analysis and future roadmap development
  • Define process requirements and specifications to support industrialisation and standardisation across manufacturing sites
  • Drive process improvements to enhance Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) performance
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA to resolve production issues
  • Use digital tools like digital twins and data analytics to enable data-driven decision-making and performance enhancement
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and Kaizen to reduce waste and boost efficiency
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability within the engineering and production teams

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
  • Certified in Green Belt Six Sigma or advanced process analysis
  • Around 10 years of experience in relevant engineering roles
  • Skilled in defining process requirements and creating specifications
  • Experienced in developing process flows and high-level data analysis
  • Proven ability to drive optimisation and standardisation using Lean and Six Sigma
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement tools like FMEA, SPC, and Kaizen

Competencies

  • Proficient blend of technical, analytical, and operational skills focused on composite materials and precision manufacturing
  • Solid understanding of materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy resins used in blade production
  • Proficiency in process design and optimisation, particularly within blade infusion or general manufacturing
  • Skilled in data-driven decision-making using digital twins and advanced analytics tools
  • Highly motivated, factory-engaged, collaborative, and customer-focused with a commitment to learning and cross-functional teamwork

Primary work location: Newport, Isle of Wight, UK
