Infrastucture Team Lead

Our clients are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Team Lead to lead a team responsible for the delivery, operation and ongoing development of enterprise infrastructure services.
The role will have responsibility for a broad infrastructure estate spanning virtualisation, Windows server infrastructure, storage and end-user computing technologies.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical infrastructure knowledge with proven people leadership, operational management and stakeholder engagement skills.
This is a hands-on leadership role rather than a purely managerial position. The successful candidate will be expected to understand the underlying technologies, provide technical direction to the team and work closely with other infrastructure, applications, security and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage an infrastructure engineering/operations team.
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to infrastructure engineers.
- Take ownership of the availability, performance and resilience of core infrastructure services.
- Manage and support enterprise virtualisation platforms, including VMware, Hyper V and/or Nutanix.
- Oversee Windows Server infrastructure and associated services.
- Manage and maintain enterprise storage infrastructure, including HPE SAN technologies.
- Support and develop Citrix environments and virtual desktop infrastructure.
- Provide technical oversight of Windows 11 endpoint infrastructure where required.
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, patching and technology refresh programmes.
- Ensure infrastructure platforms meet required standards for availability, security, resilience and performance.
- Work with architecture and project teams on the design and implementation of new infrastructure solutions.
- Manage incidents, problems and service improvements across the infrastructure estate.
- Establish and maintain operational procedures, standards and documentation.
- Manage third party suppliers and technology partners where required.
- Contribute to capacity planning, disaster recovery and business continuity activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, reliability and operational efficiency.
- Communicate technical issues and infrastructure risks clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholders.

- 10+ years' experience working within enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Proven experience leading, managing or mentoring an infrastructure/technical team.
- Strong experience across virtualisation technologies, particularly VMware, Hyper V and/or Nutanix.
- Strong Windows Server infrastructure experience.
- Experience with enterprise storage, ideally HPE SAN.
- Experience with Citrix / VDI environments.
- Experience managing infrastructure upgrades, migrations and technology refreshes.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure availability, resilience, backup and disaster recovery.
- Experience working in a large, complex enterprise environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to balance operational responsibilities with longer-term infrastructure improvement.
