Infrastructure Engineer/VMware Consultant

Robert Half Technology are assisting a market-leading financial services organisation to recruit a VMware Consultant/Infrastructure Engineer on a contract basis. Hybrid working - London based.

• Design, build, and support VMware-based infrastructure across a complex enterprise environment.

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate provisioning and operations.

• Lead development and customisation within VMware Aria Automation (vRA 8) and vRealize Orchestrator.

• Implement and integrate automation workflows using PowerShell, Python, and REST APIs.

• Support and enhance VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) full stack environments.

• Manage and optimise monitoring and logging using VMware Aria Operations & Logs.

• Collaborate closely with platform, security, and operations teams to ensure resilient and scalable infrastructure.

• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and automation issues across VMware platforms.

• Contribute to best practices, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Proven experience as a VMware Consultant/Systems Engineer/Infrastructure Engineer in enterprise environments.

• Must have:

  • Deep hands-on experience with vRA 8 and vRealize Orchestrator development

  • Strong PowerShell skills

  • Extensive experience with VMware Aria Operations & Logs

  • REST API integration and automation experience

• Should have:

  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF/VCFA) knowledge

  • Python development experience

  • Broad VMware full stack expertise

• Nice to have:

  • Ansible automation experience

  • Additional IaC tooling exposure

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a regulated environment.

• Excellent communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The salary range/day rate is dependent upon your experience, qualifications, and training.
