Job Description

We are looking for an Industry Process Consultant Intern (Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Simulation & Finite Element Analysis - SIMULIA) to join our Low-Frequency Electromagnetics Simulation Team. The team helps customers turn their electromagnetic simulation challenges into reliable, production-ready processes. We specialize in low-frequency finite-element (FE) analysis for resistive and superconducting magnet applications (accelerator components, MRI, magnets for fusion, energy-storage systems). Our consultants work side-by-side with engineering teams to define best practice workflows, optimise simulation setups, and ensure that results are robust, repeatable, and aligned with industrial standards - all using the SIMULIA suite. The position is based in our Warwick office, offering a 6-month internship with a 40-hour workweek. The team also meets bi-monthly in Oxford (City Centre), and the intern should be available to attend these in-person meetings.

Role Description & Responsibilities
  • Assist customers in building and validating low-frequency FE models of magnetic devices using SIMULIA's electromagnetic solvers
  • Translate customer specifications into simulation workflows
  • Run parametric studies, perform convergence checks, and document findings in clear, actionable reports
  • Support the creation of best practice guidelines and training material for industry users
  • Collaborate with senior consultants and the product team to provide user experience insights that shape future SIMULIA features
Qualifications
  • Master's (or PhD) degree in Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline
  • Strong fundamentals in electromagnetics (magnetostatics, eddy currents, low-frequency phenomena)
  • Hands-on experience with CST, Opera or similar (e.g. COMSOL) for magnet simulations
  • Ability to script/automate tasks (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Good written and spoken English
Nice to have
  • Experience with resistive or superconducting magnet concepts (design, quench analysis, thermal magnetic coupling, protection circuits)
  • Knowledge of advanced numerical methods
  • Prior exposure to industry-focused consulting or client support activities
What's in it for you
  • A unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a global tech company
  • Exposure to real-world projects and collaboration with experienced professionals in an international, multicultural team
  • A supportive environment that encourages learning, innovation and personal growth
  • Flexible working hours with hybrid working model, a good work-life balance
