Inclusive Learning Support Assistant - Worthing

£400+ per week Full-time Term-time only

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and looking to start or develop a career in specialist education?

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced support staff to join a specialist school supporting young people with complex learning needs.

Located in Worthing, this school provides a calm, structured, and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and present with a range of needs, including:

  • Moderate to profound learning difficulties
  • Autism and associated communication needs
  • Speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH)
  • Sensory needs (hearing and visual impairments)
  • Physical disabilities
  • Specific learning difficulties

The school uses a personalised, therapeutic approach to learning, with small class sizes and strong pastoral support to help every pupil thrive.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
  • Support small group learning and targeted interventions
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and staying engaged
  • Promote independence, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and therapists
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

This role offers excellent experience for those considering careers in teaching, psychology, or specialist education.

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar)
  • Are confident working with pupils with additional needs or challenging behaviour (desirable)
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Have a calm, consistent, and supportive approach
  • Are positive, patient, and resilient

Previous experience in schools is not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.
