About the role

In-House Counsel (Hybrid/3 days a week in Paddington)

Are you ready to take your legal career to the next level? Join our dynamic and close-knit team of in-house solicitors at Dun & Bradstreet, where you'll provide strategic and commercial legal guidance to our businesses across the United Kingdom & Ireland (UKI).

Why Join Us?

Collaborative Environment: Work alongside a supportive team of legal professionals who are passionate about what they do.

Strategic Impact: Play a key role in shaping the legal landscape for our UKI business.

Professional Growth: Benefit from continuous learning opportunities and career development within a global organization.

What you'll do:

  • Exciting Partnership Opportunities with D&B!

Join forces with D&B's UKI Sales teams to drive commercial deals to successful conclusions. You'll be at the forefront, advising on commercial deal structuring, negotiating, and drafting contracts with D&B's customers, often collaborating with procurement professionals and attorneys. Additionally, you'll work closely with other D&B business units in the UKI to negotiate and document contracts with licensors, distribution partners, and suppliers.

  • International Ventures Await!

Provide invaluable advice and support to our European business, assisting in the structuring, negotiation, and project management of cross-jurisdictional deals. Your expertise will be crucial in offering business-focused advice on deal execution, commercial deal structuring, and negotiating/drafting European contracts.

Offer general advice and support to our procurement function, including preparing standard form templates for vendors and negotiating/drafting vendor agreements as needed.

  • Data and Customer Support

Support the UKI Customer and Data teams with data purchasing, data quality management, and complaints handling. This includes contract negotiation and drafting, as well as providing advice and management for complaints and litigation.

  • Financial and Operational Guidance

Advise the UKI Finance, Revenue, and Provisioning functions on processes, documentation, and revenue recognition issues. Collaborate with internal teams (product management, product development, marketing, vendor management, data & operations, pricing, finance) to support business initiatives affecting contract management and compliance.

  • Innovative Leadership

Lead initiatives to enhance and improve D&B's standard contract forms and processes, creating new standard contract forms. Support cross-functional strategic initiatives related to ongoing commercial relationships, including new product introductions, data innovation, technology improvements, and commercial arrangements with global customers and alliance partners.

  • Collaborative Legal Support

Work with colleagues in the in-house Global Legal Team and local outside counsel for specialized and localized support as needed (e.g., complaints handling/litigation, M&A, tax, etc.). Keep the business informed of legal and regulatory developments to ensure leadership teams can react accordingly and coordinate actions.

Who you are:

  • Qualified Legal Professional: An English-qualified solicitor or barrister with hands-on experience negotiating a variety of contracts directly with customers, suppliers, and other parties. Previous experience at a recognized law firm and/or within an in-house environment is essential.
  • Experienced Practitioners: Solicitors and barristers should have around 2 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Academic Excellence: Strong academic background and training, including expertise in legal drafting and relationship management.
  • Legal Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contract law, intellectual property licensing, and commercial contracting concepts.
  • Influential Advisor: Proven ability to advise and influence internal partners at all levels.
  • Sales Support Experience: Previous experience supporting a sales function/organization is a plus.
  • Skillful Communicator: Strong organizational, analytical, oral, and written communication skills. Problem-solving abilities, intellectual curiosity, a positive attitude, and high integrity are crucial.
  • Team Player: Ability to work both independently and as part of a global team.
  • Tech-Savvy: Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.

Why Join Us?

At Dun & Bradstreet, we're more than just data and analytics. We're building a workplace where diverse ideas flourish, personal development is prioritized, and every team member is empowered to make a difference.
