Hygiene Operations Manager Contract: Professional Services, Production & Technology Location: Skelmersdale, WN8 9PE Hours of work: 40 Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a hands on Hygiene Operations Manager to lead the on site cleaning team at the Walkers Snack Foods manufacturing facility. This role is central to maintaining exceptional hygiene standards, ensuring full food safety and health & safety compliance, and delivering a consistently high-quality service to our customer.

Job Description

We are looking for someone with strong operational leadership experience within industrial cleaning, ideally in the food manufacturing sector. This is an active, fast paced role where no two days are the same, and where stakeholder engagement, problem solving and team development are key to success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of hygiene operatives and supporting supervisors
  • Own and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Ensure all hygiene tasks are completed safely, correctly, and on time
  • Participate in and conduct internal and external audits
  • Allocate the right staff to the right tasks and ensure all team members are fully trained
  • Work closely with the customer and attend regular review meetings
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, development, appraisals, payroll and budgeting for your team
  • Carry out regular site inspections and resolve issues quickly
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute new ideas to enhance the contract
Competencies / Qualifications
  • Experience managing industrial cleaning teams within a manufacturing environment (essential)
  • Previous hygiene management experience (preferred)
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities
  • Experience with Permits to Work, including working at heights and cleaning walls/ceilings via scissor lifts
  • Proven people management experience, including finance, payroll and recruitment tasks
  • Experience within the food industry
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Effective problem solving abilitiesGood knowledge of cleaning methodologies, systems and procedures
