HVDC Service Tendering Engineer - UK & Ireland

Reporting to the HVDC Local Service Centre (LSC) Manager, you will lead the development of highquality, competitive, and profitable tenders for both existing and future HVDC service customers across the UK and Ireland.
You will own the full tendering lifecycle-from understanding customer requirements through to bid preparation, risk review, negotiation, contract finalisation, and seamless handover to project execution. This role blends technical HVDC/power systemsexpertisewith strong commercial acumen, making it an excellent opportunity for an engineer eager to expand into customerfacing tendering and sales for afast-growingservice business.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Take full ownership of assigned tenders and ensure complete, compliant, and ontime submissions.
- Drive technical and commercial negotiations withcustomers.
- Define scope, prepare costings, and work closely with Sales to set margins and pricing.
- Identifyand evaluate technical, commercial, and contractual risks.
- Conduct structured risk reviews with engineering, project management, legal, SCM, and finance. Ensure tenders are clear, competitive, and aligned with internal governance requirements.
- Gather technical and commercial inputs from engineering, GlobalServiceCentre(GSC)tendering, operations, and factory teams.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals and integrate them into tender solutions.
- Support Sales during early pursuit stages and customer negotiations.
- Analyse won/lost tenders and recommend improvements.
- Maintainaccuratetender documentation and reporting.
- Support development of marketing strategies, account plans, and market analyses for the region.
- Build strong relationships withthe GSC andcustomers through visits, presentations, and account management.
- Promote the HVDC service portfolio andidentifynew opportunities in the UK&I market.
- Ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy's Quality, HSE, and ethical standards.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in sales/tendering within industrial, power systems, transportation, or similarengineering drivensectors.
- Track recordof leading tenders for complex, international, orhigh valueprojects.
- Knowledge of HV substations, power conversion, or power supply systems.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of tendering processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively incross functional, multinational teams and manage variableworkloads.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel for customer meetings.
- Fluent English (additionallanguages an advantage).
