Job Description
Job Title: HVAC Engineer - Mechanical
Location: Glasgow
Employment Type: 12 month contract
Flexibility: Hybrid working
Introduction
Are you an experienced HVAC specialist with a background in complex engineering environments?
We're working with BAE Systems to help them find an HVAC Engineer, to play a key role in supporting the design, development, and assurance of HVAC systems across high-profile naval projects. This is an opportunity to influence cutting-edge ship design and make sure our marine systems are safe, efficient, and built to perform in the most demanding environments.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you'll use your technical expertise to support the development and assurance of heating, vents and air conditioning systems for advanced marine platforms. You'll work closely with subcontractors and internal engineering teams to make sure that HVAC designs meet all technical, safety and operational standards.
You'll have a broad influence across the shipbuilding lifecycle, from design through integration and support. Your understanding of how HVAC interacts with wider marine engineering considerations-such as underwater noise, shock resistance, survivability, and maintainability-will be vital in shaping the overall platform design.
You'll also play a part in mentoring less experienced engineers and supporting engineering governance, quality standards, and continuous improvement within the HVAC discipline.
What you'll need
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
Significant experience in engineering roles, ideally within a defence or marine environment
Strong understanding of the HVAC system design and delivery in complex engineering projects
A background in marine engineering systems and shipbuilding processes
The ability to analyse complex technical issues and recommend practical solutions
Working knowledge of Life Cycle Management, modern build strategies, and supportability
Please be aware that you'll need to hold or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC), due to the secure nature of this role. You'll need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process, and must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship, having lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period.
