Working within the AtkinsRéalis UKI Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) team. To develop and lead the HSE strategy for the Water market, support the delivery of HSE objectives, improvement programmes, wellbeing programmes and training. By engaging with both internal stakeholders and external clients, supporting the delivery of HSE plans supporting a proactive approach to HSE through engagement with the Project Teams, Senior Leadership Teams and through to front line staff.
OverviewWorking within the AtkinsRéalis UKI Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) team. To develop and lead the HSE strategy for the Water market, support the delivery of HSE objectives, improvement programmes, wellbeing programmes and training. By engaging with both internal stakeholders and external clients, supporting the delivery of HSE plans supporting a proactive approach to HSE through engagement with the Project Teams, Senior Leadership Teams and through to front line staff.
Your Role- Identify, assess and mitigate health and safety risks across all phases of programmes through maintaining and updating risk registers an incident logs.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation through audits inspection and assurance reviews.
- Provide subject matter expert advice to programme directors, contractors and delivery teams. Liaise with regulatory bodies, insurers and external auditors as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety and well being through training workshops and campaigns, working closely with project staff to drive initiatives through the programmes.
- Lead investigations into accidents and near misses and implement corrective actions. Report findings to senior leadership, relevant governance forums and regulatory authorities.
- Set and track KPI's related to health safety and environment by using data to drive continuous improvement and informed decision making.
- Ensure processes are in place for accurate recording of safety incidents and training. Prepare reports for board level review and external compliance checks.
- Provide expert advice to framework and project leadership, operational teams and external partners.
- Must possess a strong working knowledge of HSE regulatory requirements.
- Should have a recognised safety qualification (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH) and be maintaining CPD.
- An understanding of the core elements that form an effective Health and Safety Strategy.
- Able to partner with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external becoming a motivational force for all to appreciate the importance of working safely.
- Innovation - be able to suggest, champion and implement innovative solutions for safety both internally within AtkinsRéalis and externally to key stakeholders.
- Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to partner with a wide variety of stakeholders both internally and externally.
