Location: Bangor, Northern Ireland
Organisation: Ards and North Down Borough Council
Pay Rate: £15.52 per hour Weekly Pay
Contract: Part-Time (Temporary)

Working Pattern:

  • Monday: 9:00am - 5:00pm (45-minute lunch)
  • Tuesday: 9:00am - 1:00pm
  • Wednesday: 9:00am - 5:00pm (45-minute lunch)
  • Thursday: 9:00am - 2:00pm

The Role

Ards and North Down Borough Council is currently recruiting for an HR Advisor to join its Human Resources & Organisational Development team in Bangor. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with HR administration experience who enjoys supporting a busy HR function and delivering a high standard of service to employees and managers.

You will provide essential support across a wide range of HR activities, including recruitment, HR systems administration, employee relations processes, and organisational development initiatives.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver administrative support across various HR and Organisational Development activities, including recruitment, training administration, and employee relations processes.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and personnel files, ensuring all information is updated in line with compliance and data protection requirements.
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding, including coordinating interviews or assessments, issuing documentation, and completing pre-employment checks.
  • Produce HR reports, statistical returns, and employee documentation, including induction and probation paperwork.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for HR-related queries, providing helpful information and directing enquiries appropriately.
  • Conduct routine HR system administration, including work pattern updates, leave calculations, service desk queries, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Support internal processes by minute taking at meetings, managing invoices, managing absence documentation, and assisting with payroll-related amendments.
  • Maintain training and development records, assist with work experience placements, and contribute to HR improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Provide cover and support to the Office Manager - HR & OD when required.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 1 year's administrative experience within a Human Resources environment, including:
    • Supporting HR administration and recruitment activities.
    • Providing general HR guidance and directing queries to the appropriate service.
    • Managing challenging situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
    • Using HR information systems or HR-related software.
  • Experience taking minutes during formal meetings.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Access to your own vehicle
