HR Officer

Salary: £35,517 - £36,582 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)Contract: Permanent, Full TimeHours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year(Monday to Thursday 9:00am - 5:30pm, Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm)Location: Croydon and surrounding areas, with hybrid working availableStart Date: August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and proactive HR Officer to join a supportive HR team. This role is ideal for an experienced HR Administrator looking to take the next step in their career, or an HR professional seeking a varied operational role within the education sector.

You will provide HR support across multiple sites, ensuring HR processes are delivered efficiently, accurately and in line with safeguarding and employment requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Compliance

  • Support recruitment campaigns from advert to appointment.
  • Coordinate interviews and candidate communications.
  • Complete pre-employment and safeguarding checks.
  • Maintain Single Central Records (SCRs) in line with KCSIE requirements.
  • Ensure personnel files and compliance records are accurate and up to date.

HR Systems & Payroll

  • Support HR, recruitment and compliance systems.
  • Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual changes and absences.
  • Maintain HR records and produce reports as required.

HR Operations

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR enquiries.
  • Provide administrative support for HR meetings and processes.
  • Assist with audits, compliance activities and employee benefits administration.
  • Support colleagues across the HR function when required.

About You, the Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have previous HR administration experience, ideally within education.
  • Be confident managing a varied workload and working independently.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Have experience maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Demonstrate strong IT and administrative skills.
  • Hold A-Levels (or equivalent).
  • Be working towards, or willing to undertake, a CIPD Level 5 qualification.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be proactive, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
