Job Description

Main duties of the job JOB PURPOSE

- Leadon all employee relations (ER) matters across LOROS, providing expert advice,guidance, and case management support to managers in line with employment law,best practice, and organisational policy.

- SupportHR compliance activities, including safer recruitment, workforce records, andadherence to CQC and statutory requirements.

- Contributeto HR audits, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvementinitiatives to ensure the organisation

Employee Relations

Manage all ER casework, providing legally compliant advice, producing documentation, maintaining records, and identifying trends to support fair, timely outcomes and continuous improvement. Coach managers and contribute to policy development.

Process Improvement

Improve ER processes and tools for consistency and compliance, analyse data for insights, support manager training, and maintain accurate HR systems.

Professional Responsibilities

Maintain up-to-date HR knowledge, support wider HR initiatives, build strong relationships, provide cross-team cover, and uphold confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding standards.

Job responsibilities Employee Relations

- Leadon all ER casework including sickness absence, performance management,disciplinary, grievance, probation, and capability matters.

- Provideclear, legally informed advice to managers, ensuring fair, consistent, andtimely resolution of cases.

- Preparecase documentation, letters, investigation reports, and hearing packs to a highprofessional standard.

- Supportand coach managers to build confidence and capability in handling people relatedissues.

- Maintainaccurate ER case records, trackers, and documentation including meeting notesto support reporting, audit, and compliance.

- IdentifyER trends and risks, escalating concerns and recommending preventative actions.

- Contributeto the development and review of HR policies and procedures to ensure theyremain legally compliant and fit for purpose.

- Workcollaboratively with the HR team to ensure ER learning informs wider HRpractice and organisational development.

Process Improvement

- Reviewand refine ER processes, templates, and workflows to ensure consistency,fairness, and legal compliance across all casework.

- Developand maintain ER toolkits, guidance documents, and standardised templates tosupport managers and improve case quality.

- AnalyseER data to identify patterns, root causes, and opportunities for early interventionor organisational learning.

- Workwith managers to improve understanding and application of ER processes throughtraining, ensuring processes are accessible, user friendly, and aligned withorganisational needs.

- Contributeto wider HR improvement projects by ensuring ER considerations are embedded insystem changes, policy updates, and process redesign.

- Providebasic compliance guidance to managers, escalating complex issues to senior HRcolleagues where appropriate.

- MaintainHR systems and databases, ensuring accurate and timely data entry and strongdata governance.

- Maintainup to date knowledge of employment law, regulatory changes, and HR bestpractice to ensure high quality ER advice and operational HR support.

- Supportwider HR activity beyond ER whenrequired by contributing to organisational change initiatives, assisting withthe development and review of HR policies, participating in HR projects acrossthe department, and supporting wellbeing, engagement, and EDI initiatives tostrengthen organisational culture and practice.

- Actas a role model for professional standards, promoting accountability,continuous learning, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

- Step upto act on behalf of the Line Manager when required and work across the HRspectrum to provide robust support on all aspects of HR (onboarding, payrolletc) during periods of absence, organisational change, or peak demand.

- Upholdconfidentiality, data protection standards, and organisational values in allaspects of work.

- Buildstrong working relationships with managers and staff, ensuring HR is seen as areliable, knowledgeable, and solutions focused partner.

Person Specification Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to manage ER cases independently, balancing risk, fairness, and legal compliance.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and professional documentation.
  • Confident in coaching and supporting managers to build capability in handling people issues.
  • Ability to deliver training or briefings to managers on ER processes and best practice.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage deadlines, and handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence and challenge appropriately.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in record keeping and data entry.
  • Confident user of HR systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret ER data and identify trends or risks.
Knowledge
  • Strong, up to date knowledge of UK employment law and best practice in employee relations.
  • Understanding of HR policies, procedures, and their practical application in casework.

Experience
  • Significant experience managing a wide range of ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence, performance, probation, and capability.
  • Experience providing legally informed HR advice to managers at all levels.
  • Experience preparing high quality ER documentation such as investigation reports, outcome letters, and hearing packs.
  • Experience coaching and supporting managers to handle people related issues confidently.
  • Experience maintaining accurate HR records, case trackers, and audit ready documentation.
  • Experience using HR information systems and maintaining high quality data.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as health, social care, education, or charity.
  • Experience analysing ER data, identifying trends, and recommending preventative actions.
  • Experience contributing to the development or review of HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting HR projects, organisational change, or wider HR initiatives (e.g., wellbeing, engagement, EDI).
