Role Purpose

The HR Business Partner will work closely with Heads of Department, managers and colleagues across Blackrock Clinic as a trusted people adviser. The role provides practical, balanced and commercially aware HR support across the employee lifecycle, with particular strength in employee relations, manager coaching, attendance, performance, culture and organisational change.

A central focus of the role is to help create and maintain positive working relationships and a fair, respectful and accountable workplace. The post holder will support managers to address people matters early and confidently, while ensuring complex employee relations cases are managed consistently, sensitively and in accordance with Blackrock Clinic policy, fair procedures, Irish employment legislation and relevant codes of practice.

Qualifications/ Experience
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in Human Resources, employment relations, business or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of professional qualification and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years' relevant HR generalist/business partnering experience, with demonstrable experience managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Irish employment legislation, fair procedures and employee relations best practice.
  • Demonstrable experience advising managers on grievances, disciplinary matters, investigations, absence, performance/capability and other complex people matters.
  • Strong relationship-building, coaching, influencing and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to provide constructive challenges.
  • Excellent written communication and case documentation skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive or complex matters clearly and appropriately.
  • Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise competing demands and maintain momentum in a busy environment.
  • Strong analytical capability and confidence using HR systems, data and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused and pragmatic approach, with a commitment to fairness, dignity, inclusion and high professional standards.
  • CIPD membership/qualification or equivalent recognised HR professional accreditation.
  • Previous HR experience within healthcare, a regulated environment or another complex multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, consultation, restructuring or changes to working arrangements.
  • Experience engaging with employee representatives, external employment advisers, the WRC or Labour Court processes.
  • Experience using people data and workforce metrics to identify trends and support management decision-making.
  • Experience supporting quality, accreditation, audit or governance requirements.
  • Support the philosophy, values, objectives and goals of Blackrock Clinic and Blackrock Health.
  • Observe appropriate reporting relationships and lines of authority and always demonstrate professionalism and accountability.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee, patient and organisational information.
  • Comply with Blackrock Clinic policies and procedures, including requirements relating to health and safety, incident reporting, data protection and information governance.
  • Participate in training, professional development and relevant hospital or HR meetings as required.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility as may reasonably be required.
