About NYES HR

North Yorkshire Education Services (NYES) HR is one of a number of traded services for Education settings, within and beyond North Yorkshire. As a Service which is 100% funded by education clients opting to buy into our service, we rely on each and every member of our team to have a highly commercial and professional approach.

The world of Education is rapidly changing presenting challenge and opportunity in equal measure. We are proud to be a responsive and solution focussed service providing a high standard of professional HR Advisory support to over 400 educational settings. Our customers include maintained schools, Academies, Multi Academy Trusts and Independent Schools predominantly across the North of England with our income being 100% reliant on our customers choosing to buy into the provision. As such, our practitioners need to have excellent commercial awareness; customer service and strong relationships are key to our success.

The team sits as part of North Yorkshire Council's high performing HR and OD Service and we are very proud to have recently won the 2025 PPMA Public Sector HR and OD Team of the Year, the PPMA Gold award as well as a recent award for HR and Payroll provider of the year from Education Today.

What you will be doing

Due to the promotion of a valued member of our team to an HR Director position, we currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR practitioner to join us as an HR Business Partner.

This role is truly varied, challenging and rewarding; you will act as the strategic HR partner for a portfolio of our largest Multi Academy Trusts to support them to deliver their HR priorities, often seen as an extended member of their senior management teams. Your job is to partner with them to understand their individual context, culture, terms and conditions and policies in order to ensure that they receive a tailored service relative to their organisational needs.

You need to be able to operate at a strategic level with a high level of credibility, advising CEOs, Trustees, Chief Operating Officers and other senior professionals as well as manage a complex employee relations caseload and day to day supervision of HR Advisers.

Your casework will include the most complex operational cases including safeguarding allegations, advising appeal panels and at times you will provide an expert commissioned investigatory service.

Given the highly autonomous, commercial and specialist nature of the role, we are ideally looking for an existing HRBP with public sector experience and experience of education would be advantageous. If you think you can help us to continue to make our mark and contribute to our fantastic team, then we would love to hear from you.

In return, you can expect to receive ongoing CPD from an award-winning, forward-thinking organisation and to be part of a friendly, collaborative and dedicated team.

Why Work for us?
