Your Mission

We are currently hiring a HPC/Linux Engineer to support and scale our internal high-performance computing environments that power simulation, research, and engineering workloads across the Toyota ecosystem.

You'll join a small, senior team responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing HPC clusters built on Linux platforms. This is a hands-on, infrastructure-focused role with broad scope - covering everything from system administration and performance tuning to automation and user collaboration.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with deep Linux skills who enjoys working across the full stack of infrastructure, and who's excited to contribute to systems that drive real-world innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize Linux-based HPC clusters (Ubuntu, CentOS, and derivatives)
  • Manage job scheduling systems (primarily Slurm)
  • Support containerized workloads using Docker and Singularity
  • Maintain infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible and Terraform
  • Monitor system performance using Grafana, Prometheus, and related tools
  • Support GPU computing workloads (NVIDIA, CUDA)
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and internal stakeholders to support complex workloads
  • Troubleshoot and maintain hardware infrastructure (e.g., server diagnostics, cabling, rack/stack)
  • Contribute to configuration standards, performance improvements, and documentation

Your Profile

  • You have 5+ years of hands-on experience with Linux system administration, preferably in performance-sensitive or HPC environments ((however, even if you don't meet the years but feel confident on your skills, we would love to review your application!)
  • You're confident scripting in Bash and Python to automate and optimize operations
  • You've worked with Slurm or other workload scheduling systems
  • You have experience deploying or supporting Docker containers in production
  • You've used Ansible, Terraform, or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools to manage systems
  • You're comfortable monitoring system health and performance using modern observability tools
  • You take ownership, enjoy solving complex problems, and thrive in a collaborative environment
  • You're fluent in English; any additional European languages are a plus

Nice to Have

  • Experience with GPU workloads (e.g., NVIDIA, CUDA)
  • Exposure to Bright Cluster Manager, Lustre, Ceph, or similar cluster/distributed file systems
  • Familiarity with OpenOnDemand or other HPC user portals
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git-based collaboration workflows
  • Prior involvement in scientific computing, research engineering, or simulation-driven industries

Location & Contract

Brussels, Belgium - Hybrid (2+ days onsite)

Contract: Freelance or Full-time (open to discussion)

Candidates must be based in Belgium, the EU or open to relocation. Visa sponsorship available for the right candidate.
