Housekeeping Team Leader

Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7, between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Weekends will be required on a rota basis.
As a Housekeeping Team Leader, you'll play a key part in ensuring the cleanliness and presentation of our properties, helping to create safe, welcoming environments where students can thrive. You'll work closely with Facilities, Student Experience, and Maintenance teams, leading your housekeeping team to deliver the highest standards every day. From organising daily tasks to hands on support, you'll be a visible, motivating presence who never walks past a mess without doing something about it.
Your impact- Lead and support the Housekeeping Team, through hands on involvement, coaching, and continuous feedback to help them develop and perform at their best.
- Provide line management and leadership to your team - conducting performance reviews, managing attendance, conduct, and performance, and supporting their growth and development.
- Be responsible for setting objectives, creating rotas, and managing holidays to ensure effective cover and operational excellence.
- Contribute to cluster performance by delivering key business KPIs.
- Act as the point of escalation for incidents and ensure every situation is managed calmly, professionally, and with care.
- Planning and organising the daily operations of the housekeeping team, including fair delegation of tasks and performance monitoring.
- Ensuring all communal and back of house areas are clean, safe, and well maintained, working alongside maintenance teams to address any issues swiftly.
- Setting a strong example by proactively addressing cleanliness and safety concerns without delay.
- Communicating effectively, solving problems confidently, and fostering teamwork and a culture of learning and high standards.

To be successful in this role, you will- Have previous housekeeping experience, ideally with a background in leading or supervising a team, or extensive experience in housekeeping seeking progression.
- Be detail oriented with a keen eye to maintain high cleanliness standards and ensure nothing is overlooked.
- Be hardworking and willing to actively work alongside your team while confidently delegating tasks based on team members' strengths.
- Communicate effectively by actively listening, using clear language, and maintaining composure in challenging situations.
- Demonstrate strong leadership by motivating your team, providing timely feedback, solving problems efficiently, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
