Housekeeping Assistant

£12.79 per hour working 32.5 hours per week. The position is Monday to Friday, from 7am to 2pm (6.5 hours per day, plus 30 minutes unpaid break).
You will be responsible for keeping the College buildings and student residences cleaned to the highest standard in a safe and organised environment, and for managing designated areas such as student rooms, guest rooms and communal areas.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of College buildings, student and guest rooms, and communal areas.
- Follow instructions and work safely.
- Lift and use cleaning equipment, and use computers to a basic level.
- Communicate via email and WhatsApp in written English.
- Work at the Darwin College site in the centre of Cambridge.
- Work one weekend per month.
Qualifications
- Previous cleaning experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Capable of using cleaning equipment and computers.
- Good written English and comprehension of manuals and safety information.
- Ability to communicate via email and WhatsApp.
- Free meals during working hours and College kitchen opening hours.
- 33 days annual leave a year, inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata for part time workers). After 5 years' service your annual holiday entitlement will be increased by one day.

Basic hourly rate of £13.72 (enhanced for night and weekend shifts). 27 hours per week on a rolling shift pattern of three consecutive shifts per week (2.30pm 11.30pm / 5.30pm 2.30am / 9pm 6am).
You will be required to represent the College by providing reception, switchboard and general front of house services to College members, visitors and guests with a high standard of professionalism and courtesy.
Responsibilities
- Provide reception, switchboard and front of house services.
- Ensure the welfare of College members and help ensure that College rules are adhered to.
- Communicate effectively in English to callers (in person, on the phone and by email) at the Porters' Lodge.
- Respond quickly to situations that may arise on the main site and other College locations.
- Work at the Darwin College site in the centre of Cambridge.
Qualifications
- Experience working in an environment where customer care is important.
- Experience in a role with responsibility for security and/or safety is desirable.
- Good level of fitness.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.

£13.26 per hour, working 40 hours per week. The position is Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm (8 hours work, plus 30 minutes unpaid break).
The caretaker will be responsible for keeping the College buildings to the highest standard in a safe and organised environment, with specialised cleaning and light maintenance to all areas of the College buildings under the supervision of Housekeeping Management.
This is a complex role responsible for maintaining both internal and external areas of the college, supporting the Maintenance team with service delivery.
