Salary: £58,402 - £66,204 depending on experience and qualifications
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday to Saturday, 5 days per week, 9am-5pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Hospital Optometrist in Truro, offering the chance to develop your clinical skills within a patient-focused environment.

This role is all about clinical care rather than sales targets or KPIs. You'll receive full training and ongoing support from experienced senior Optometrists, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move into hospital-based optometry.

You'll be involved in a varied range of clinics, including pre-operative and post-operative cataract assessments and YAG laser clinics, with opportunities to develop your skills further in areas such as Medical Retina and Glaucoma.

The Role

As a Hospital Optometrist, your responsibilities will include:

• Performing pre- and post-operative assessments for cataract surgery patients.
• Conducting pre-operative assessments for YAG laser capsulotomy referrals.
• Obtaining informed consent in a professional and ethical manner.
• Participating in the weekend and on-call rota.
• Ensuring clinical areas are prepared and equipment is checked before and after clinics.
• Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Completing required training, including Basic Life Support and manual handling.
• Maintaining high standards of clinical care and patient safety.
• Saturday working is approximately 1 in every 4 weeks, with a rota day off provided following weekend work.

There may also be opportunities for occasional home working, depending on business requirements.
There may be a requirement to travel throughout the region when needed.

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Optometrist with current GOC registration.
• A genuine passion for patient care and clinical excellence.
• An interest in developing your knowledge and skills within hospital optometry.
• Enthusiasm for further qualifications and professional development.
• Previous hospital optometry experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
