The Role of the HLTA (Learning Support)
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate high impact specialist interventions, including
  • handwriting, communication, and SALC programmes, to support students' academic and physical development.
  • Utilize specialist skills and experience to support students with complex learning, behavioural, or emotional needs, adapting learning materials to ensure accessibility.
  • Conduct and analyze diagnostic screeners for students, including Dyslexia and Speech, Language, and Communication (SALC) screenings, to identify barriers to learning and inform targeted support plans.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to contribute to the planning of lessons, preparing resources that meet the diverse needs of secondary school students.
  • Monitor student responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement and progress using the school's tracking systems.
  • EHCP Annual Reviews: Actively contribute to the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Annual Review (AR) process by compiling student progress data, preparing comprehensive reports, and attending review meetings as a key representative of the Inclusion team.
What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience working as a TA within a UK secondary school setting.
  • Experience of leading whole classes or large groups independently.
  • Experience working with students with SEND (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH).
