Highways Lighting Engineer

Overall Purpose of the Role:

Aptus are looking for a skilled and motivated Street Lighting Engineer to join our growing design team. You will have the flexibility to either work from your home office, out of one of our Regional offices, or wherever you're most productive, to complement our existing design and installation teams. The successful candidate will have a proven history in Highways lighting projects and be able to undertake various designs, including standalone private lighting schemes; new section 38 developments; and section 278 highway lighting projects in accordance with local authority standards.

What you will be doing:

• Liaise with developers to determine scope of works and prepare design quotations.
• Produce designs using Lighting Reality, DIALux, Relux, and AutoCAD.
• Produce cable calculations & schematic diagrams to accompany the designs using Amtech or similar.
• Liaise with local authorities to determine lighting requirements and obtain design approvals.
• Offer guidance to clients relating to onsite engineering queries

What we ask from you:

• Successfully completed ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma
• Fully Conversant with BS:5489 Road lighting code of practice
• Proficient in the management of lighting contracts.
• Ability to read & understand working drawings and interpret the requirements.
• Provide quotations to clients for design works.
• Good leadership and communication skills
• Flexible and adaptable with working hours; committed to meeting business needs as required.
• Fully IT literate, with proficiency in Lighting Reality (Outdoor & Roadway Design), AutoCAD, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Full clean driving licence required for site visits as required

Desirable:

• Ability to visually identify lanterns and components.
• G39 - Working in the vicinity of DNO equipment.
• ILP Membership - current
• Understand DNO & IDNO LV networks to determine supplies to street lighting equipment.
