We are looking for a HEO Lead Drafter with a passion for customer service, who is an excellent writer and communicator, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment at the heart of our Ministerial and Public Communications Division.
The Ministerial Correspondence team is a key part of the department's success in communicating with the outside world and Parliament. We work closely with ministers, their Private Offices and policy teams to manage correspondence and draft high-quality letters for our ministers to send to MPs, Peers and VIPs. Each minister has a dedicated team, led by a Lead Drafter, delivering replies to exceptional standards and tight deadlines, with each response reflecting the minister's position and preferences.
Responsibilities- Lead a team of EO drafters to manage the day to day running of their minister's private office/ministerial correspondence. This includes ensuring that the tea is kept briefed and motivated, allocating work to make the most of their strengths, while ensuring they are stretched, coached and continue to develop
- Take responsibility for delivering high-quality, signature ready and timely responses to the minister's Private Office. Working effectively in order to deliver on time, in a fast paced and adaptable environment, enabling the team to deliver for our customers and against our Whitehall, DfE and MPCD performance targets
- Work closely and establish close relationships with policy and Private Office stakeholders to ensure that the team gets the information they need when they need it
- Take responsibility for dealing with, and resolving, any unexpected issues, guiding and leading their team through the situation and upskilling where necessary
- Identify opportunities to drive improvements in team processes to enable the delivery of a great customer service and be confident in sharing your experiences and best practice with the wider team
- Manage the team's workload effectively, being flexible to support other ministerial portfolios where necessary
- Maintain a clear audit trail by ensuring that our correspondence management system is kept up to date throughout the life of every case
- Work flexibly across the team to deliver outstanding service for all ministerial portfolios
