Herdsperson

We have a contract vacancy for an experienced dairy herdsperson on 350-acre family farm near Shaftsbury.

This herd of 170 crossbred cows, split equally between autumn and spring calvers are milked via a 16 x 16 Herringbone parlour with ACR'S and in-parlour feeders. Extensive grazing is practiced, when possible, with supplementary feed supplied.

During winter months, a full TMR is supplied while cows are housed in a sand bedded cubicle shed with tractor scraping.
The appointed person will be required to cover all milkings to a very high standard, with time off between, with a 7-hour working day being the norm.

A mobile home accommodation on farm is on offer along with a competitive salary.
