Heavy Maintenance ManagerPost InformationSection: Heavy MaintenancePost Number:Location: Predominantly Crewe, with some support to other ATC sitesWorking Hours: 37.5 hours per weekResponsible to: HM Delivery ManagerContract Type: PermanentJob DescriptionJob Role: The post holder is accountable for the successful mobilization, deployment and commercial delivery of specified heavy maintenance projects (including classified repair, overhaul and refurbishment projects).delegated to them at predominantly at Crewe depot. There will be a requirement to support new and existing projects at other ATC sites1. Key Duties:Develop effective internal and external working relationships that deliver all key elements of Heavy Maintenance contractsEnsure all work undertaken is in line with customer, technical and legislative standards and specificationsEnsure all work undertaken is done so in a timely manner and a high standard, in line with customer expectationsEstablish safe systems of work in accordance with relevant customer, business or legislative standardsRecruitment and development of appropriately skilled teams to deliver specific work packagesRecruitment and development of Project Managers, Engineers and Planners to support projectsProvision of regular management information and Key Performance Indicators that report of key project deliverablesUndertake and complete annual Performance Development Reviews with direct reports, in a timely mannerSupport the bid team as required with input to support potential new work opportunities and contractsLead the mobilization for new projects, including development of deliverables such as resource plans, work breakdown structures, tooling requirements, risk register, Bill of Material(s), Specification Review - all in accordance with company Heavy Maintenance Mobilization procedureDeliver and maintain excellent standards of housekeepingManage customer interfaces including the leading of Contract Review MeetingsDrive continuous improvement initiatives, including the development of LEAN techniques and processesDevelop internal systems, processes, procedures and reporting mechanisms providing clear controlDeliver pro-active customer management identifying and developing possible opportunities on maximizing revenues and cost savingsMaintain compliance with all company policies and proceduresUnderstand and recognize new stakeholder opportunities and maintain existing stakeholder relationshipsProvide exemplary customer servicePerson SpecificationQualification and RequirementsBTEC certificate in EngineeringCity and Guilds certificate in EngineeringProfessional membership of IMechE or IETFormal project management methodologyPeople Management trainingA full and valid driving licence is essentialExperience and KnowledgePrevious experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle heavy maintenance activitiesPrevious project management experienceUnderstanding of applicable health, safety and environmental standards and requirementsPrevious experience of production efficiency tools and techniquesUnderstand ROSCO/TOC/FOC relationshipsGood working knowledge of all company management
