Job Purpose

To provide compassionate, dignified, and person-centred care to clients in their own homes, supporting them to live independently and safely within their community for as long as possible. The Healthcare Assistant will deliver care in accordance with individual Care Plans and organisational policies, reporting any changes in a client's condition or wellbeing to the Care Manager or designated supervisor.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality personal care in accordance with each client's individual Home Support Care Plan.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
  • Support clients with eating and drinking, monitoring nutritional intake and reporting any concerns.
  • Provide medication prompting or assistance strictly in line with company policy and scope of practice.
  • Deliver continence care respectfully while always maintaining client dignity and privacy.
  • Observe, document, and report any changes in a client's physical, emotional, or behavioural condition to the Care Manager.
  • Support clients' emotional, social, and psychological well-being.
  • Encourage independence and community engagement where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate care records in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Comply with all health and safety legislation and safeguarding policies.
  • Respect and maintain client confidentiality and comply with Data Protection (GDPR) requirements.
Mandatory Qualifications and Eligibility
  • QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support (or equivalent recognised international healthcare qualification)
  • OR
  • Minimum of 2 QQI Level 5 modules:
    • Care Skills (5N2770)
    • Care of the Elderly (5N2706)
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or home support setting (minimum 6-12 months preferred)
