Base: Colworth House, Colworth Park, Sharnbrook, Bedford, MK44 1LZ. Hybrid/Agile Working is available.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours (Part time considered, hours to be agreed)

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Health and Safety Manager to provide strategic, organisation-wide leadership for Health & Safety across all CDS services and regions.

Reporting directly to the Clinical Director, this is an autonomous and influential role with the responsibility for developing and delivering the organisation-wide Health & Safety strategy, providing authoritative advice to the Executive Team and Board, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory standards.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the organisation-wide Health & Safety strategy aligned to CDS objectives
  • Act as the organisation's senior competent person under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act
  • Provide authoritative advice to the Executive Team and Board on complex and high-risk matters
  • Lead investigations into serious incidents, including RIDDOR reportable events
  • Liaise with external regulators including the Health and Safety Executive
  • Promote and embed a positive health and safety culture across all services.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (or working towards)
  • Significant senior-level Health & Safety leadership experience
  • Excellent communication, influencing and analytical skills.
  • Experience working within healthcare or NHS-related organisations
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 standards

You will be mainly located at our head office in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire but will also need to work remotely. Therefore, hybrid/agile working is available. You will be required to travel and provide support to some of our clinics across Bedfordshire, Derbyshire, Essex, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Norfolk and North Yorkshire, so it is essential that you have your own transport and a full driving licence. Working on a part-time basis, the hours of the role are between 8.30am to 6.00pm although some flexibility will be required.

£57,528 to £64,750 a year per annum, pro rata
