What you will do: Delivery Quality
  • Lead the overall planning and execution of complex solutions across the Feature Teams to meet our customer needs
  • Ensure the deliverables within the Value Stream adhere to the Engineering & Technology standards and guidelines, and drive engineering best practices for knowledge management and documentation.
  • Ensure technical debt and enablers are captured within the Chapters and Value Streams and these are regularly reviewed and prioritised for delivery
Manage and Coach
  • Line manage Senior Tech Leads and Chapter Leads, providing leadership direction, career guidance and coaching to our permanent colleagues and providing oversight and management of the Feature Team Tech Leads
  • Drive a culture of relentless improvement and a focus on well being within the Value Streams and across your Chapters.
  • Act as an escalation point for Technology challenges and facilitate resolution.
Effective Communication
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third party providers where necessary offering direction, support and ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Actively apply the banks values to decision making and working practices every day to ensure they permeate throughout the value stream.
  • Regular engagement with senior and executive stakeholders to effectively communicate challenges, risks and strategy.
Monitor and Manage Technology Risk and Controls
  • Monitor team health through the use of metrics
  • Ensure any technology risks and mitigating controls are identified and managed, including effective review and management of applications owned by Engineering

What you will need:
  • Experience as a senior leader in IT and Transformation, preferably within financial services
  • Experience writing and maintaining large scale, robust production software in a fast-changing environment with rapid release cycles
  • Experience working within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)/Scrum at Scale (SoS)/Nexus or any other Agile scaling framework
  • Experience leading large, self organising, truly Agile delivery teams to deliver demonstrable outcomes
  • Good understanding of an agile SDLC, from ideation through to delivery across the RTL (Route To Live)
  • Good understanding of an agile SDLC
  • Proven expertise across 1 or more domains including everyday banking, payments, IT or another relevant domain
  • Establish and maintain application and technology roadmaps and runways, short/medium/long term planning
  • Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
