£75,420 - £82,480 per annum

Location: County Hall, Preston (Hybrid Working)

Are you ready to lead and inspire a dynamic governance team? As the Head of Governance, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our council's governance services. We are looking for someone to provide strategic leadership and drive forward-thinking service improvements whilst ensuring the delivery of council priorities and statutory duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership of the councils Governance Service ensuring delivery of council priorities and statutory duties.
• Lead on the development and promotion of robust governance initiatives, projects and activities across the authority.
• Design and deliver the Governance Services business plan to drive service improvements whilst ensuring budget and resources for the service deliver savings and efficiencies.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes a culture of professional development, knowledge sharing, and open, honest, and transparent communication.
• Act as Data Protection Officer in relation to information governance responsibilities and work collaboratively with the Director of Legal and Governance, Head of Legal and Head of Democratic Services to ensure a strong ethical culture.

What we are looking for:

• Strategic Leadership - You'll have substantial senior management experience in a governance/risk services role within a local authority or similar public sector environment.
• Service Excellence - You'll have a proven track record of delivering high-quality Governance services, managing complex budgets and leading high performing teams.
• Stakeholder Engagement - You'll have significant experience of working with senior stakeholders, evidencing your ability to build credibility with senior managers, elected members, and external partners.
