Job Description

Directorate: Public Health, Protection and Wellbeing

Section: Family Matters

Location: Civic Centre

Grade: SM2

Hours: 37 hours per week

The Role:

This role is within the Public Health Protection and Well Being Directorate and reports directly to the Director of Safer, Stronger Communities.

Proposed interview date: 28 - 29 July 2026

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Leading early help and prevention strategies within the Family Matters programme in Stoke-on-Trent
  • Workstream Management: Driving the continued implementation of the workstreams within Family Matters and its connections with other aspects of community-based work to improve family and community outcomes.
  • Preventative Services: Reducing the need for statutory intervention through collaborative early family help initiatives across partners.
  • Partnership Working: Fostering collaboration with voluntary organisations, health services, and community groups to achieve the aims of Family Matters.
  • Quality and Impact: Focusing on performance management, service quality, and creating enduring change through the programme

About You:

  • Graduate Level Degree Experience of working in a public health environment
  • Experience and knowledge of the early family help environment
  • Strong commitment to equality and diversity
  • Knowledge of the current policy landscape relating to babies, children and families.
